EVENT CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Day on the Quay

‘Day on the Quay’ is an annual family event on Aberdovey Wharf and a celebration and recognition of the important role fish and the fishing industry plays in Aberdovey and the economy of Cardigan Bay.

Since the pandemic the ‘Day on the Quay’ events have been cancelled until further notice. However, may we take this opportunity to tell you a little about our fishing community, and anticipate the return of ‘Day on the Quay’ next year.

Aberdovey has a proud maritime history, being founded around its natural harbour and a thriving shipbuilding community, which in the 18th and 19th Centuries saw over 200 wooden trading boats launched, and were seen plying their trade around the world.

Aberdovey is now a renowned family-friendly tourist resort with beautiful surroundings, while remaining true to its heritage and is still recognised as a working port, with its own fishing fleet.

Every day the Welsh fishing fleet brings ashore a fantastic variety of fresh produce for distribution within Wales, the UK and specialist markets, where the quality of its catch is highly prized.
